Teacher Spotlight Day with Mr. Barnett!💛💜 Mr. Barnett is one of our very lovely Math teachers on campus and the Varsity Basketball Coach! What you may not know about Mr. Barnett is that he is an avid snowboarder and wakeboarder😎 He has taught wakeboard lessons for approximately 15 years! Another thing that students may not know about him is that he is a Quarter Cherokee Indian. One of his Great Grandfathers walked on the "Trail of Tears". His Cherokee Indian name is "tsisdu" which means rabbit🐇. Barnetts dad started his love for basketball. He actually started his love for sports and competition! His dad really developed his love for basketball by placing a hoop on his tree (at the age of 7 or 8) and later a hoop over his garage. His dad also took him to all kinds of Bret Harte games when he was young! Barnett says, ”I have a ton of memories watching both boys and girls Bret Harte Basketball!” In his mind coaching and teaching go hand in hand. When Mr Barnett realized that he liked coaching in college, he began to think about moving toward a teaching credential. He chose math because in college a lot of his teammates were PE majors and he did not want to do the same thing as everybody else. Thank you for being such an amazing teacher at Bret Harte! We appreciate you!💜💛 #gobullfrogs
