On July 21, 2016, Roosevelt High School made history at Saddleback Butte State Park. Crystal, Selena, Christian, Alexis, Desirie, and Javier were the first students in Boyle Heights to build, launch, track, and recover a weather balloon with payload into the stratosphere. The payload included a video capture of its path, a device to gather its altitude, GPS coordinates, and an experiment on vegetation in high elevation. The calculated trajectory came within 10 miles in its final descent. The mission was a success! Special recognition to Space Horizons for making the mission a reality and Shout for their support! @boeing @mayorofla @cmjosehuizar @nasajpl @michelleobama @gopro @roosevelthsla @mstmaatrhs @abcnews @telemundo @spacehorizons #letgirlslearn #steam #stem #steampathway #lausd #aerospace
